COE 96 - Jewelry

I make a variety of cabochons from 'soft glass' or what I think of as 'art glass' which comes in a myriad of colors, unlike my recyled stuff. Right now I'm working with System96 glass and other glass in the 96 COE range.

I have a few basic designs that I'll describe below

Simple color

This is simply colored stringer (thin glass rod) on an opaque background.
Simple frit square

This is similar only using frit (powdered glass)arranged in a design or pattern.
Clear 'twist'

This is made from small bits of glass stringer twisted together by hand in an open flame.
Solid 'twist'

One of my twisted segments on top of a white base. The blue flecks are glass paint.
3D 'twist'

This one also uses a base of white with flecks of purple paint on it. The '3D' part is from many tiny scraps and bits too small to use, suspended in clear glass.
Dichro 'twist'

This uses both dichroic glass and twisted glass. This technique forms the glass around a small object that is fished out later to leave a hole for the string.
Note the frosted area at the top.
Mardi Gras Sticks

These very slender pendants consist of twisted glass surounded by glass 'confetti' in the spirit of Mardi Gras.
Complex dichro

These pendants use layers of dichroic glass, stringer, paint, frit and anything that adds depth.
Milli flowers

Millifiori pieces arranged on 'stems' of stringer, in beds of frit.

About this project:

I'm in the apprentice phase of my exploration into the glass arts.

I'm working on mastering my technique with the cheapest (and often the most fickle) of glass - recycled bottle glass.
